Antero de Quental

This project carries two qualities that make it a source of pride for us. On a small scale, it stands against gentrification; and, perhaps even more importantly, it is an act of generosity and giving back.

The brief was to convert a studio flat into a one-bedroom home, creating a more dignified way of living with a new bedroom, a new kitchen and a new living room. Without moving a single wall, everything is reorganised to establish new spatial hierarchies.

The budget is tight yet ambitious, demanding greater rigour and a clear sense of what is essential, from both the design team and the client. Every decision has to be objective and rational.

Above all, the result should be unique and poetic, creating a new and richer way of inhabiting the space.
